KINGS COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - The City of Avenal has officially put forth plans to part ways with the Kings County Fire Department to start a city fire department.

According to Avenal City Manager Antony Lopez, on Tuesday morning, the Kings County Board of Supervisors held its weekly meeting.

During the meeting, the board considered four to five different options for a renewal contract with the city of Avenal for fire protection services.

According to Lopez, the board unanimously voted to sign a contract with the Kings County Fire Department, but with an 18-month exit clause.
