OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The Court of Criminal Appeals has cleared the way for the State of Oklahoma to retry Karl Fontenot for the 1984 murder of Donna Haraway, after his confession was thrown out during a retrial.

This case goes back to 1984 when Donna Harway was murdered in Ada.

Fontenot was convicted after confessing to the crime.

This decision was appealed, putting the retrial on hold.

The court of Criminal Appeals said the admissibility of that confession should be decided during a trial. With this decision, the retrial can now move forward.

This is a developing story.
