BUFFALO, N.Y. — The City of Buffalo is seeking to dismiss a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the widow of firefighter Jason Arno, who died in the deadly Main Street fire.

According to newly filed court documents, the city’s attorney argues the lawsuit should be thrown out, saying there are still unanswered questions about what caused the fire and the circumstances surrounding Arno's death.

The city maintains that, given those unresolved questions, it should not be held legally responsible for the incident.

The wrongful death lawsuit is part of a broader legal battle centered on the fire that claimed Arno’s life, which remains under investigation.
