$900K in food insecurity grants helps local restaurants to feed the hungry

SPRINGFIELD — A state agency is helping to tackle community food insecurity by boosting a resource that’s already out there: local independent restaurants.

MassDevelopment on Tuesday announced $900,000 in reimbursement grants to support 31 eateries across the state, as they endeavor to keep hunger at bay at places like food banks and pantries, senior centers, schools and other sites with emergency food needs.
