AUSTIN, Texas — As Hispanic Heritage Month unfolds, Austin-based nonprofit Latinitas is pushing forward to spotlight community role models through public art, even as federal funding cuts tighten the squeeze on nonprofits nationwide.
Founded in 2002, Latinitas offers after-school programs and summer camps designed to introduce girls to STEM education. The organization’s mission is to ensure that every student has access to technology and the opportunity to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Executive Director Gabriela Kane Guardia told KVUE the work is deeply personal.
