A Victorian teen suspected of violently attacking a man with a machete has been given an opportunity to earn bail after taking his fight to the Supreme Court.
The 14-year-old has been accused of almost cutting a man's hand off with a machete in a random attack at Central Square shopping centre in Altona Meadows in July.
The incident left 33-year-old Saurabh Anand's hand hanging by a thread, almost requiring amputation.
He also suffered organ damage and a spine fracture, as well as sustaining a concussion from falling to the ground during the alleged attack.
