Former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce has attacked Labor following discussions between Australia and Turkey over the possibility of co-hosting an upcoming climate conference.
Talks between Australia and Turkey about the possibility of splitting hosting duties of the 2026 UN climate summit are ongoing, with Canberra strongly backing the bid.
The 2026 event would mark the 29th Conference of the Parties (COP29), an annual summit rotating through five regional groups.
Asked by Sky News host James Macpherson about the possible co-hosting deal, Mr Joyce claimed Labor’s commitment to net zero and climate change policies was "immoral”.
"There’s nothing renewable about renewable, it’s intermittent power … it’s a scam," he said.
