JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - With hurricane season still in full effect, one local emergency operations center is showing just how prepared they are.

Onslow County’s Emergency Operations Center was upgraded and expanded after a $14 million dollar federally funded project that brings new upgrades to the original facility.

On Thursday, they held an open house and re-dedication ceremony.

“We’re very excited,” Bradley Kinlaw, Onslow County’s Emergency Services Director said. “Historically we have not had the square footage to allow all of our partners in the building so we’re looking forward that face-to-face communication, face to face operational planning that we’re going to be able to do in the future.”
