NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The first phase of planning to erect a monument to "unborn children" on the grounds of the Tennessee Capitol is underway more than seven years after lawmakers approved the measure.
This latest development comes after the State Building Commission approved a $4,000 private donation to go toward the construction of the "memorial," to be called a "Monument for Unborn Children."
The Republican-led legislature had initially passed a bill approving the Tennessee Monument to Unborn Children in 2018, explaining that it would be paid for through private donations only. The measure was sponsored by Rep. Jerry Sexton (R-Bean Station) and Sen. Steve Southerland (R-Morristown).
