A little less than one year into the role, Grand Junction City Manager Mike Bennett said a lot has changed since he was announced as the finalist for the job in September of last year, but he’s excited for what comes next.

“There’s an incredible team to work with and we’ve had the opportunity to restructure and build some more team members,” Bennett said. “A lot has happened. We had an election since then and onboarding and a lot of big things in motion at the time. So time is flying.”

The city announced Bennett, then the city manager of Fruita, was the finalist for the Grand Junction job on Sept. 16 and the City Council voted unanimously in mid-October of last year to authorize an employment contract.
