A Tasmanian woman who had a lime tree stolen recently is pleading for its return because the barrel it is planted in contains her deceased cat.
Kelly Smith had buried her cat of 19 years, named Cardamom Fancy Pants All Spice Buckland Smith - or Cardy for short, in the barrel so she could take him wherever she went if she had to move between houses.
Cardy came into her life when her former partner took her to a cat shelter to adopt a pet on Valentine's Day more than 20 years ago.
"I sat in a cage with all the kittens crawling all over me, and he was the one that I absolutely adored," Ms Smith said.
"He had personality and was a bit spunky."
She said she had been undertaking renovations at her home over the past 10 weeks, and it was during a clean-up that she noticed the lime tree was m
