MONTAGUE — The West Michigan Conference-Lakes Jamboree No. 2 girls 5,000-meter race was one for the ages as the Ludington and Manistee co-ed varsity cross country teams competed in Montague.

The Mariners narrowly edged out Ludington by one point to secure second. Manistee recorded 51 points while the Orioles ended with 52 points.

Fremont won the event with 30 points.

Ludington freshman Eliza Schwass continued her dominant season, securing first place with a time of 20:11.89. Junior Annabelle Lowman was right behind her in second place with a time of 20:12.25.
