LONG ISLAND, N.Y. (PIX11) – A woman who made as much as $319,000 a year is accused of stealing nearly $100,000 in day care benefits from the Nassau County Department of Social Services, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors alleged that 43-year-old Shamika Brown lied about her employment on her Social Services application, saying that she worked at a Brooklyn hair salon and made $25,000 a year. She’s accused of using the benefit from June 2019 to June 2023 to pay for her three children’s day care, according to prosecutors.
Prosecutors alleged that a review of Brown’s application in 2024 revealed that she did not include her employment with American Express, Amazon and a consulting firm. It’s believed she made $128,000 to up to $319,000 in annual income over four years, according to prose
