Riverdale quarterback Lance Simmons had a lengthy rehab process after suffering a knee injury during Week 5 of his sophomore season.

Simmons played through the injury as a sophomore, but he ended up needing surgery after the season to repair a torn knee ligament.

The surgery cost Simmons most of his junior season, but after a 10-month rehab process he's back as the starting quarterback.

“(Simmons) didn’t know he tore his knee,” coach Mark Longo said of the 5-foot-10, 185-pound senior. “He got the results back a month after his sophomore season. He rehabbed and came back in Week 9 of last year. He’s continuously been in the weight room and working on cuts to strengthen his knee in every way he can.”
