HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) - A serious crash has closed a busy Mecklenburg County road on Friday morning.

said around 6:30 a.m. that the eastbound lanes of Gilead Road were closed between Reese Boulevard and I-77.

Police said the wreck would affect the morning commute and that drivers should take alternate routes.

It is unclear how long Gilead Road could be closed.

Medic said one person died and that the crash involved a pedestrian. No other details were immediately available.
