MICHIGAN CITY — A jury found a 23-year-old local man guilty Thursday on multiple criminal charges stemming from a July 2023 shooting that left two people injured, according to LaPorte County Prosecutor Sean Fagan.

Javan Brown was reportedly convicted following a four-day trial on two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, unlawful possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon and criminal recklessness.

The jury also found Brown guilty of sentencing enhancements, Fagan said.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 30 before LaPorte County Superior Court Judge Jamie Oss.

The shooting in question occurred during the late afternoon of July 7, 2023 in the 400 block of York Street, police said at the time.
