Motorists in West Dunbartonshire are set to face stricter traffic regulations this week as the local Labour Party council gains new powers to issue fines. Previously, parking restrictions were enforced by Police Scotland, but these powers have now been decriminalised and transferred to West Dunbartonshire Council.
Enforcement officers will now be able to issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) to any vehicle that fails to comply with existing parking regulations, as indicated by lines and signage.
Councillor David McBride, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said: "This is an important step in increasing road safety throughout the region. It is aimed at improving driver behaviour so that traffic across the area can move more freely.
