A total of 17 Poundland stores are set to hold special sales ahead of a new wave of closures starting this weekend. The retail giant is preparing to permanently close its doors at various locations across the country, offering shoppers the opportunity to bag a bargain before it's too late.

Selected stores will be slashing prices by up to 40 per cent on a wide range of products, including clothing, groceries, and health and beauty items. This comes as Poundland has been gradually closing stores nationwide following its acquisition by investment firm Gordon Brothers.

In the long run, the chain plans to reduce its number of UK locations to between 650 and 700. Initially, it aims to close 68 stores, with 57 already having closed their doors by 28 September.
