NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) -- Officers with the Norfolk Police Department are asking for the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in an attempted robbery of a Norfolk Family Dollar.

According to officials, on Sept. 24 around 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar located at 2010 Cromwell Drive for reports of an attempted commercial robbery. Officers were told a man entered the business with a weapon demanding items before leaving the store.

During the initial investigation, detectives obtained surveillance footage just before the attempted robbery. A screenshot from the video can be found below:

Police said no injuries were reported during the incident.
