PHOENIX — A man was hospitalized Thursday after a shooting in Phoenix, the city's police department said.

Just before 11:30 p.m., officers were sent to the scene near 81st Avenue and Indian School Road for reports of a shooting. Officers said they found a man with at least one gunshot wound once they were on scene.

Phoenix Fire responded to the scene and took the man to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The identity of the victim was not released and the investigation into what led up to the shooting is ongoing.
