Two men were arrested and a police officer was injured in a “violent disturbance” outside the MGM Music Hall on Lansdowne Street Wednesday night, police said.

At about 9:50 p.m. officers working a paid detail at the Fenway venue, which was hosting a concert by rapper Kevin Gates, and were assisting security with removing Edwin Rivera, 30, of Mashpee, when the situation escalated, police said in a statement.

“When officers began escorting Rivera out, he became increasingly combative towards officers,” police said. “Upon reaching the Lansdowne Street exit, Rivera threw a beverage and swung at an officer, then grabbed onto the officer’s jacket and attempted to pull him toward the sidewalk, crowded with pedestrians and vehicles.”
