ALTOONA, Iowa —

Authorities say a fire Thursday night at the Walmart store in Altoona was intentionally set.

The store was evacuated around 9 p.m. Smoke and fire was visible and the store's sprinklers were on when emergency crews arrived.

Altoona police confirmed to KCCI that 41-year-old Jack Cedeno, of Des Moines, has been charged with first-degree arson. Cedeno is currently in the Polk County Jail.

The store is temporarily closed. It's unclear how much damage the fire caused or when the store may reopen.
