Police Scotland have issued travel advice to people across Scotland as Storm Amy heads towards the north-east , with an amber warning issued by the Met Office .

A previously issued yellow warning for strong winds has come into force, with an amber alert due to begin on Saturday at midnight across northern parts of Aberdeenshire .
