After a long pause to focus on family, Tulsa-based fashion designer David Caldwell is back creating custom leather jackets under his brand, David D’Angelo Caldwell.

Early Career

Caldwell began his fashion journey in 2004, making hats from recycled sweaters. He studied international business in Italy before enrolling in the apparel design program at Oklahoma State University. After graduating in 2008, he moved to New York City to intern with Zac Posen and launched his first women’s wear collection at Spin Magazine during the 2009 September New York Fashion Week.

Caldwell later appeared as a contestant on Bravo’s The Fashion Show with Isaac Mizrahi and Iman, and worked as a tailor for Paula Abdul’s Live to Dance . He returned to Oklahoma City in 2011 to design women’s wear but paused
