OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Leaders in both Ocala and Marion County are set to proclaim Oct. 14 as a day of remembrance for Charlie Kirk following his assassination last month.
On Oct. 7, Marion County Board of County Commissioners and Ocala City Council members are set to vote on agenda items to officially proclaim Oct. 14 in remembrance of the conservative media figure.
Both chambers of Congress passed resolutions to recognize Kirk on the same day. Oct. 14 was his birthday.

Kirk was shot on Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University. Following his death, his wife Erika was named the CEO of Turning Point USA , a nonprofit founded by Kirk to advocate for conservative politics
