ELBA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - A man is dead and a woman is hospitalized after a motorcycle crash in Gratiot County on Thursday afternoon.

The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office says 31-year-old Daniel Pupava of Saginaw County was driving a motorcycle on Mason Road near M-57 when he tried to pass a piece of farm equipment.

The crash happened as the machine was trying to turn into a field, according to the sheriff’s office.

Pupava was thrown from the bike and died on-scene. A woman who was a passenger was flown to Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, according to the sheriff’s office.

Her condition has not been disclosed. The driver of the farm equipment was not injured.

The Gratiot County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
