KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — On Oct. 10, visitors to the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts are invited to attend a public reception of Washi Transformed: New Expressions in Japanese Paper, a new exhibit.

"These (receptions) are a really great way for us to interact with the community," Zachary Kusz, marketing and communications officer at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts, said. "To showcase what is available here at the KIA."

Guests will be able to explore Washi Transformed's over 30 different works from nine artists that exemplify the unique qualities and techniques of washi, a handmade Japanese paper used for origami and woodblock prints. • A Japanese washi paper artwork to be featured at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts.
