Saturday, LMPD arrested two men, Daniel Bentley and Robert Kelly, for allegedly stealing copper wire near I-65 and the Gene Snyder.
The arrest citation said officers worked with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) and tracked the wire, following a tracking device that was with the wire.
Police said the investigation led them to two men who were actively stripping the wire. One of the men admitted to taking the wire from the guardrail and said he planned to scrap it.
"Because the task force, working together, we were able to use some investigative techniques and catch some people in the act," said Louisville Deputy Mayor David James.
