TOLEDO, Ohio — Kroger marked the end of Hunger Action Month with its first-ever Two States One Plate event, a large-scale day of service that delivered 1 million meals to families in Michigan and Ohio, the company announced.
The initiative, held this week at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, brought together nearly 600 volunteers, including Kroger associates, community members and corporate partners. Together, they packed and distributed 25,000 meal kits — the equivalent of 2.6 million servings of food — to households in need across the two states, according to Kroger.
Each kit contained breakfast items such as milk and cereal; lunch items including peanut butter, jelly, bread and Pop-Tart Bites; and dinner supplies for a chili bowl.
