The first weekend of October is here, but the National Weather Service says daytime high temperatures in the mid-Hudson Valley will be more like summer, approaching 80 degrees.

Some locations might even see temperatures one or two degrees above that mark.

And there will be no rain in sight.

Summer apparently has been given a brief extension in the region.

Oct. 4 will begin with some patchy fog before 9 a.m. in Dutchess and Ulster counties.

After that fog lifts, the day will be sunny, with daytime highs in the upper 70s in all four counties- Dutchess, Ulster, Orange and Sullivan.

The night will be mostly clear, with overnight lows in the low 50s in Orange, Dutchess and Ulster counties, and the upper 40s in Sullivan County.
