DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN)-- A Dothan man died in the driver's seat of his car after overdosing on fentanyl.
On September 20, shortly before 3:00 a.m., a man identified as 41-year-old Joel Nicholson was found unresponsive in the driver's seat of his car at the intersection of West Powell Street and North Herring Street. The car had been sitting at the intersection for over 30 minutes, and police found Nicholson with his foot still on the brake.
First responders attempted to save Nicholson and administered Narcan, but he was pronounced dead on the scene, and his body was sent for an autopsy.
The autopsy revealed Nicholson died of a fentanyl overdose.
