Haden Frayne learned from some of the best.
The Stratford Hunter Steel Warriors captain was in the Allman Arena seats more than a decade ago when Trevor Sauder was averaging a point per game for the Cullitons while establishing himself as the league’s best defensive forward and a team leader.
Frayne was on the cusp of making his hometown Junior B club when Malcolm McLeod patrolled Stratford’s blue-line with a similar intensity, and Frayne was a 17-year-old rookie with the Warriors when Zac McCann led the squad to Game 7 of the Sutherland Cup final.
Now, Frayne is in charge of gatekeeping a tradition upheld by players and former captains like Sauder, McLeod and McCann.
