VENTNOR — Work on the Dorset Avenue bridge over the next week will require several bridge opening tests, which could result in traffic delays, police said.
Police said in a Facebook post that the tests began Friday and will continue through most of next week.
According to Atlantic County, the openings will continue through Thursday, Oct. 9. The intermittent openings will take place between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day to allow for testing of new electronic equipment.
Police and the county advised motorists and residents to expect traffic delays if the bridge is raised.
The 100-year-old bridge has experienced some issues, most recently this summer, when repairs to the computer system controlling its opening and closing were needed in July. That caused the bridge to remain in the down po
