LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - While the new year is just a couple of months away, Nebraska is on-track to pass a fiver year record in pedestrian crash fatalities, with nearly a quarter of them taking place in Lincoln.
This year alone, there have been 17 pedestrian car deaths in Nebraska with four of them taking place in the Capital City which is about 24% of cases in the state.
Out of the four deadly accidents, one remains under investigation while the other three show the driver is not to blame.
“There is no time to react or the visibility as such that they would not have been illuminated by headlights in time,” Sgt. Sara Genoways, Traffic Unit Supervisor for LPD, said. " It would not be reasonable to say that they could have seen and done something about it."
