With sculpture and paint, music, dance and drama, downtown Grand Junction is about to bustle even more than usual with the arts.

The Downtown Arts Festival begins today and continues Saturday , Oct. 3–4, with artists coming together to create an event with multiple aspects and entry points.

Here is what you won’t want to miss as this festival unfolds.

‘WESTBOUND BY TRAIN’

The festival will join October’s First Friday Art Walk with exhibition openings and receptions at galleries both in downtown and at The Art Center, which will open four exhibitions with a reception from 6:30–9 p.m. today at 1803 N. Seventh St.

Today also will feature a special pop-up exhibition: “Westbound Art by Train.”
