A local animal shelter is hosting an event for the public.

The Erie Humane Society is holding an open house on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2407 Zimmerly Road in Millcreek.

Those attending can meet animals, listen to live music, watch dogs show off their agility and more. There will also be adoption specials for animals six months and older.

Joe Lang, executive director of the Erie Humane Society, said that this open house will show the community what the Humane Society does. “We’re excited to showcase the work we do every day to care for homeless and vulnerable pets, and to welcome new friends to join us in making a difference,” Lang said.
