FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Two people have been killed in possible bear attacks in Arkansas in the last two months, despite officials previously saying it's rare for it even to happen once.

On Sept. 3, a 73-year-old man was working on his tractor near Mulberry Mountain Lodge Park in Franklin County when he was attacked by a black bear, according to a spokesperson for the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission. The man died from his injuries on Sept. 14, his family confirmed to KNWA/FOX24.

Just a few weeks later, a 60-year-old man from Missouri was found dead at the Sam's Throne Campground near the small town of Mount Judea with injuries consistent with those expected from a "large carnivore attack," Newton County Sheriff Glenn Wheeler said.
