CUMBERLAND, N.C. — Due to the ongoing government shutdown, the Army has cancelled their annual Best Squad Competition due to a lapse in appropriations.
The government shutdown resulting from Congress' inability to agree on and pass a fiscal year 2026 budget, or reach a temporary funding deal, forced the Army to cancel its fourth annual Best Squad Competition, according to a brief service statement . The competition was scheduled to start Oct. 2 and run through Oct. 15 at Fort Bragg, N.C.
It has not been announced if or when the event will be rescheduled.
