MOREHEAD, Ky. (WSAZ) - The City of Morehead broke ground on a new fire department earlier this morning, according to Morehead Mayor Laura White-Brown.

The new location of Morehead Fire Department Station #1 is at 523 W. Main Street.

In a Facebook post , White-Brown said, "What a way to end the week. The City broke ground today on a new fire station. This project is long overdue.

This is what it looks like when city leadership and public safety work together for the greater good. Our community will benefit from this project for decades to come.

I am so proud of the Morehead Fire Department, all they have done and all they will continue to do.

Thank you to everyone who has supported this project on the local, regional, state and federal level."
