Police Officer Marissa Velez of the Coronado Police Department Patrol Division, who has nearly a decade of experience, is committed to educating the community about the evolving tactics scammers use. “I have served the City of Coronado for almost two years as a Police Officer in the Patrol Division. Prior to my time with Coronado, I served as a Police Officer for the City of Vernon in the southeast Los Angeles area for approximately eight years, having worked as a Field Training Officer, Public Information Officer, and Detective,” Velez told me of her background. “I grew up vacationing in San Diego, and after moving to the San Diego area in 2023, I knew Coronado was where I wanted to lateral to.”
