Cigna Healthcare, a major insurance provider, has reached a new deal with Norton Healthcare, Louisville's largest health care provider, allowing patients to continue receiving in-network care.
In August, Norton announced Cigna was terminating its previous contract, effective Sept. 8. The end of network coverage date was later extended to Oct. 1 .
In an Oct. 3 press release, Norton said it had signed a new contract with Cigna, effective Oct. 1. The provider added that no action was required for any previous communications about potential coverage changes.
"We appreciate the community’s patience throughout this process," the release stated. "Our focus remains on providing uninterrupted access to high-quality care."
