A woman in Greer, South Carolina, missed the Powerball jackpot by a single number.
The woman bought three Powerball tickets at the P & P Food Mart on North Main Street in Greer when the jackpot reached a massive $850 million the night of Aug. 27. She gave two of them to friends, but kept the third.
Days later at a grocery store, she checked her ticket.
“I was told it was more than the $500 they could pay,” she said.
So, she took the ticket back to the store where she bought it and asked the clerk at the P & P Food Mart how much the ticket was worth. That’s when she found she won $200,000.
Her ticket with PowerPlay matched all but one of the Powerball numbers drawn.
“I don’t know that it has sunk in yet,” she told lottery officials.
