ATLANTA — While it’s not quite sweater weather across much of the country, winter is right around the corner, and it could be a cold and stormy season, .

“It looks to be an intense and stormy winter for certain areas of the country, particularly across the Midwest, Great Lakes, Ohio Valley, Northeast, and parts of the Mid-Atlantic,” AccuWeather Lead Long-Range Meteorologist Paul Pastelok said.

AccuWeather, which released its predictions on Oct. 2, is the latest entity to take a stab at forecasting the winter. Others include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center, which released its latest outlook in September, and , which released its winter predictions in August.
