SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - A lawsuit has been filed against the City of Sioux City for alleged breach of contract. The plaintiff in the case is the contractor of the Grandview Park Water Tank Replacement Project.

On Friday, Sept. 19, a lawsuit was filed against the City of Sioux City by Christiansen Commercial Contracting of Pender, Nebraska.

According to the city’ council’s agenda from Aug. 10, 2020 , Christiansen Commercial Contracting was awarded the water tank contract with the city for $6,794,230. A public notice from March 8, 2021 , reveals the tanks had to be replaced because each one was over a century old.

The Sioux City Public Museum says the city built a water reservoir during the 1880s on the hill of the park. When the reservoir became too small for Sioux City’s needs by 1912
