LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A free program is helping new and expecting parents across Kentucky, designed to support families through an evidence-based curriculum.

Eleanor, 2, is the youngest of four siblings and loves to play outside with chalk. Her mother, Roneka Squire, said while she loves taking care of her, challenges come with raising a toddler.

“… That is my most challenging thing for her is I can’t wait until we get past this phase of tantrums,” Squire said.

For pretty much her whole life, Squire and her family have been part of Kentucky Health Access Nurturing Development Services program, known as HANDS .

Started as a pilot program in the ‘90s, the HANDS program is now in all 120 Kentucky counties . It’s free to all expectant and new parents.
