PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Nurses and health professionals at Kaiser Permanente facilities in Oregon and Southwest Washington announced Friday that they will go on strike in a little over 10 days unless they reach a tentative contract with Kaiser.
According to The Oregon Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals (OFNHP), which represents nearly 4,000 healthcare workers in the region, said bargaining for a new contract has been going on for months, with little progress made. Their latest contract expired on Sept. 30.
On Sept. 19, the union voted overwhelmingly to authorize the strike.
In Friday's announcement, they said the strike would start on Oct. 14 and last no longer than five days.
OFNHP added their members work at Sunnyside Medical Center, Westside Medical Center and have surgi
