Play Airlines, the Icelandic low-cost airline, has ceased operations and canceled all of it future flights.
The airline announced the news on Sunday in a release on its website .
“Fly PLAY hf. has ceased operations, and all flights have been cancelled,” the statement reads. “We kindly advise you to check flights with other airlines. Some carriers may offer special ‘rescue fares’ considering the circumstances.”
In an expanded statement, the airline said that the decision to shut down came after multiple quarters of sustained losses and lackluster ticket sales, according to TheStreet.
Before shutting down, the airline had originally planned to cut all flights from Europe to North America from its program by October 2025.
