SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - A man has been handed a 50-year prison sentence for his role in the deadly shooting of a 12-year-old South Bend boy nearly two years ago.

According to online court records , 22-year-old Nagomba White Jr. was sentenced to 45 years for murder and five years for battery by means of a deadly weapon. His trial was canceled after he reached a plea agreement with prosecutors.

According to charging documents , the Oct. 27, 2023, shooting happened after a brief confrontation in the area of Indiana Avenue and Prairie Avenue. Josiah Small died from his injuries while a 14-year-old boy suffered a non-life-threatening to his leg.

Last month, 19-year-old Amarion Cutler was handed a 25-year prison sentence for his role in the shooting.
