Morris and Essex and Montclair-Boonton train riders can expect regular weekend service this Saturday and Sunday as work continues to make repairs after a non-passenger train slowly derailed last week.

Regular service could resume for weekday passengers on Monday, according to NJ Transit spokesman Jim Smith. More: NJ Transit unveils new buses that will roll out between now and June 2026

"At this time, we anticipate returning to full regular weekday service on Monday, Oct. 6. If that were to change due to unforeseen circumstances, we will communicate with our customers on all available channels," Smith said.
