Peter Costelli’s season isn’t over.
The UNC quarterback said he will return to the Bears this year after missing an extended period of time for the second-straight season.
Costelli, a 23-year-old redshirt junior, suffered a fractured left collarbone while running with the ball in the season opener Aug. 30 against Chadron State. He underwent an operation days later to repair the break. Now, Costelli is healing and intends to rejoin the team when he’s cleared to play.
He said in late September his return could happen six weeks after he was hurt. Because the injury wasn’t a complete break, and with the operation, the recovery time is faster.
“I will be back,” Costelli said.
He is out of a sling and healing is on track as of this week, according to UNC athletic communications.
